I really did not want to do this, but my hand has been forced by time and annoyance factors.

About a year ago I ran across a very cool artist by the name of "cureineko" on FA: Link located here

X-Posted with some edits from FurryDrama_2 because it concerns a warning to artists.

TLDR:
If you get a request from AngelofDarkness block and ignore for your own sanity.  She will offer to pay and then turn around and give you excuses as to why she can't (and why you are ruining christmas just for asking) and maybes turn into "you promised" because apparently requests r srs bsns. I'm apparently not even the third artist she has done this to (though the first to report ones done through PM), links are provided below. Posting because I wish I had known and was lucky to get warning just before things went sour.

Other cases like mine:
Link to a journal where she threatens to kill herself for not getting free art: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1007953/
Link to a journal where she harasses said artist to force them to give her a free icon: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1048053/#cid:8811140
And to a previous one harassing the same artist: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1046070/#cid:8762941

This is what I get for being nice to furries.

NOTE: Pics in links may or may not be work safe,  None are nudes but some are down to bra and panties.

Generally, I don't believe in giving away art, and when I do it's typically  sketches.  When I'm in the mood I post journal and I usually let people give me characters and vague situations and I use them to warm up for paid stuff.  I don't like specifics or detailed characters, if I'm unhappy with something I just skip over it.  I always put a disclaimer that I do the fun ones and leave the eh ones, as I absolutely hate those overly complicated characters with zillions of piercings etc.  And good god...what some people expect out of a free request O_O  Mind boggling.

However, for Christmas I thought I'd be generous since I usually only get a few and open requests, upgrading some randomly to full  color  pieces .

Ah, but here apparently is my mistake.  You see, some furries think that free full pieces are a cue to try to screw someone.  Now, I've heard sob stories before (hell I was PMed several this round, one who thought I gipped him or something), and generally I ignore 'em, but this one takes the cake and just keeps getting better and better.

When I posted this pinup of a dog in black stockings forEdwardElric1308, not less than 5 minutes later I receive this PM from a stranger called AngelofDarkness.

Ah the crazies. Always around this time o' year. )
Ah the crazies. Always around this time o' year. )

On a different note to people that like getting requests: at least watch the person, it's so rude to have someone come out of the blue demanding free art.  Also, the people that have the kinds of problems I pity don't throw them around to get free art.  They're respectable people who do their damndest to pick up whatever broken pieces are left and move on with their lives when trouble strikes. Gah.

ok was looking over the newly uploaded schedule of events for FC 2010 and noticed on saturday. That the FNL rehersal, the masq signup and judging, and the fursuit parade are all really close to each other. Which kinda makes it really hard if someone wanted to possibly do both shows or all 3?. Any chance they can be spread out just a tiny bit more? I do realize masq does have a tiny slot on friday but thats still a lot going on all at once on saturday ;( Anyway just my 2 cents.

Well, the plans were for a party.
Unfortunately, a close friend died and the only good date for the memorial was Jan 23rd. Yeah, His Lady Wife, an even closer friend, knows that it is Furcon weekend, she did try for any weekend but that, but was unsuccessful in getting the site she wanted.
So with Saturday Night gone, the plans for a party have been ditched.
So this means that a PARTY ROOM is available. Smiling Wolf would love it if you can put an open party in the room. And things are guaranteed to be noisy.
Reservation starts Thursday Jan 21 and runs to Monday Jan 25. The usual, I have the first night deposit that needs reimbursing.
Please help this fan of furries out.
Thanks

FNL
I'm looking for five male fursuiters to take part in my FNL skit for this years FC. The skit is a serious piece (not funny) set like an old western. Premise is that a girl has been taken by a small band of kidnappers and a single bounty hunter has been sent to retrieve her.

Warning: any and all suiters who volunteer for these roles with be shot and killed on stage.

The FC room block is closing on 12/30. That means that available rooms will sold at the normal rate per night after this date. There are a few rooms than have become available if you are still without one.

My story: this gal ([info]modastrid) and I met through a community and hit it off, she was weird and cool and we both disliked the same people for the same reason (on a community) so we often PMed about that.

Then we had a disagreement, mostly when I saw her boasting about something she made in an ebay-seller warning post. And that really turns me off. A lot. It shaded my opinion of her in a totally different light. Ego and boasting in artists who sell their work just squicks me, big time.

But I decided to get past that, cause she still does some cool stuff. Then I saw her newest creations- animal pelts put into round necklace pendants (cabochons?) and I ordered one. It came with glue and dry skin sticking out of the top. I thought she had better crafstmanship than that. As a friend said to me: "visible glue is amatureish".

I ordered a 2nd one (mind you these were ordered and shipped at the same time, I had not seen the poor craftsmanship of the 1st yet) custom-made. I wanted a The Lion King inspired piece and I asked her to do a yin yang symbol of dark lion pelt and light warthog pelt. I was assured twice that they lay flush together:

Yeah they lay flat when they're glued down.

I asked for clarification: long post is long )

Ok, so, I know it's only a month out but things have come up for me financially making it impossible to attend FC this year. The problem is, I've got this room reserved at the Fairmont already and the non-refundable deposit is paid.

I'd much rather have it used by another fur rather than just canceling it and waisting $150.

That said, I'm looking for someone who would want to take said room off my paws (and pay the $150 deposit).

The reservation details are:

Arrival: Jan 21st
Departure: Jan 25th
Room Description: Fairmont - queen size bed -NS Main Bldg

$129/night + tax = $516 + tax total (the deposit paid gets subtracted so one night + it's tax are taken off the final bill)

If you're interested please respond here or send me an email at tetegami [a+] gmail [d0t] com, preferably with a subject line about the room so I realize it's not junk :P

It's worth a shot, I guess. Probably too late but you never know.

Looking to buy one of the FC2009 Surf Safari staff shirts, if possible, or if someone wants to sell theirs. That's the blue/black Hawaiian shirts with the con logo embroidered on the chest.

I absolutely love them, and would love to have one for myself!

You have a shirt? I have money!

To narrow it down I'd need a medium or large :p

Thanks!

Art Show
All spaces in our show have sold out. We are currently investigating the feasibility of re-purposing some adult panels as general panels in a useful way, so those waiting for general panels may be able to get space. We usually have some cancellations between now and the show, and some at the show itself, so you're welcome to get your reservation in to hold a space in the waiting list. Payments for unassigned panels WILL be refunded.

Events Schedule
The tentative FC2010 events schedule is now available on our website. Please note that the events listed and the times are subject to change before the con.

Hi all,
This is my experience with Exodite Dragon aka Astralabortion I just want to show everyone how difficult it can be with some artists. This really sucks cuz I REALLY dig his work.

Short version: We talked online about two commission. He gave me the price of $200, I paid him on 3/31/09, on 7/13/09 he said he wouldn't do it, and finally get my money back 9 months after original payment on 12/19/09 (today)

I thought folks might be interested in something I'm running on Twitter. It's called "The Twelve Trails of Christmas - A Pre-Hisssteric Holiday, starring the Named clan cats. It is a parody of the Twelve Days of Christmas traditional song, but in addition to singing each verse of the song, the cats have to act it out.

Twelve Trails has already started running on Twitter, but there are archive and recap pages. It is my gift to Ratha fans and the furry community (OK, there are some book plugs in there) and it is fun.

To see it, follow @rathacat and/or use the Twitter search tag #rathxmas. Enjoy!

Thanks to this list, I am on a bunch of panels and workshops, so see you there!

I have a room with two double beds that needs filling - 3 or 4 people.

Males and females both welcome.
All sexual orientations welcome.
Fursuiters welcome.
Smokers welcome, so long as no smoking occurs in the room.
Drinking is fine, as long as everyone is legal (obviously).
Sexing is fine, as long as your bedmate doesn't object and you don't get fluids on other people's belongings.
No big parties, but chilling with a small group is fine.

For the record, I'm male, 22, and gay, drink moderately, occasionally smoke socially, and have a certification in Furry Con Personal Hygiene. ;P

Three people will have bed space for the entire con. Obligations on the east cost mean I won't be arriving until either late late late Friday night or Saturday morning, so person #4 will have bed space at least one, probably two nights.

I will add everyone in the room to the official reservation so that whoever arrives first can check in.

Overall cost is $129 + $21 (tax) = $150 per night. Per person cost will be calculated separately for each night, $150/(number of people in room that night). That's $50 per night with three people, $37.50 per night with four, and $30 per night with five.

I have Wednesday and Monday nights booked, too, if anyone needs them. If no one does, I'll drop them from the reservation.

Make contact by LJ message from my profile, or by leaving a comment.

Thanks!

Hey all!

Due to unforseen unfortunate cirmumstances, a couple of my roomies for FC had to back out. I wish them the best of luck dealing with their situations, however as they can no longer make the con, I am in need of roomies to replace them.

I have a suite reserved, for Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. It is a deluxe room in the south tower, which is supposed to be bigger, but a little more expensive than a suite ($259 a night + taxes).

So far it's myself ([info]m_tiger), Angel Bunny ([info]razzlfraz), and [info]frostbight in the room confirmed. We're all fursuiters, and fun loving, pretty quiet individuals.

We're looking for at least 3 people to fill in the room with 6 people, which would put us back on track to where we were before people had to drop. Should be ample room for 7 though (always was more than enough at the Doubletree). Maybe room for 8, too?

3-way split would be $400 each person for all 4 nights, and is where we're down to now.
4-way split would be $300 each person for all 4 nights.
5-way split would be $240 each person for all 4 nights.
6-way split would be $200 each person for all 4 nights, and is where we were, and trying to get back to.
7-way split would be $170 each person for all 4 nights.
8-way split would be $150 each person for all 4 nights.

If there's anyone interested, please leave a comment or contact me via lj message with your contact details so we can get in touch with ya.

I was interested in selling home made knitted scarfs and hats, eventually moving up to blankets and what have you when I get larger needles.

I've been watching on here and often I've seen in the past advice on acquiring a TOS. I must be super slow, because after an hour of searching, I could not find these comments. As I am new to selling things online like this, I wanted to set up a TOS, for both me and the customer. I want them to know whats going on as much as I would want to, and I know reading over something like that would help.

What exactly should one put in a TOS though? I'm not fully sure.

I am sorry if you'd rather I not ask this here, but I know that you guys have it down pat what to do. I saw that advice asking is still ok, but did not see an update on the profile or a mod-post on what is exactly permitted.

I did google it, by the way. Didn't come up with any kind of helpful guide or anything.
Thank you in advanced.

Edit #1 - Oh man, thank you for all the advice. I have to actually sit down and put something together, so I'll upload my idea after its finished.
